Concerned Citizens of Whitesboro, Inc., (CCWI) was founded in 1988 and incorporated in 1989 when two community-focused groups united around a shared mission: supporting youth development and strengthening the Whitesboro community.
Led by dedicated local leaders - including educators, clergy, and law enforcement - CCWI was created to promote the healthy growth of young people and advance the community's social and economic well-being.
Since its founding, CCWI has grown into a 501 (c)3 nonprofit committed to education, service, and civic engagement. Its key programs include:
Rainbow Homework Club, providing after-school academic support and enrichment
Scholarship Program, helping local students pursue higher education
Vera Smith Community Food Pantry, serving families in need
Rainbow Summer Camp, offering safe, affordable, and enriching experiences for youth
CCWI also promotes civic involvement through voter registration drives, clean-up efforts, and community forums.
Cornerstones of its impact is the Annual John Roberson Golf Tournament, held in May to raise monies for its scholarship program, and the Annual Whitesboro Reunion Festival, held each Labor Day weekend, celebrating over a century of community history while bringing residents together to honor the past and build the future.
Through its programs and partnerships, CCWI continues to uplift and empower the Whitesboro Community.
